Experience Before Explanation
Welcoming Dr. Rickard Elmore as a Forensic Advisor and Treatment Strategy® Educator
Treatment Strategy® is the evolution of more than 20 years of applied human experience, developed to help people live sustainable, employable, and meaningful lives within a living society.
In the 1990s, Dr. Rickard Elmore worked within a federally funded initiative supported by a $60 million government grant focused on behavioral development, sustainability, and rehabilitation. This work contributed to a broader shift in correctional philosophy that culminated in the renaming of the California Department of Corrections to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) in 2005.
Beginning in 2002, Dr. Elmore began supporting individuals engaging with psychedelic and entheogenic practices from a preparation, safety, and integration perspective. At that time, educators emphasized restraint rather than direction—using few words, offering no scripted outcomes, and avoiding language that would pre-determine anyone’s experience.
The work was never about storytelling. It was about responsibility, readiness, and understanding how these substances might interact with an individual’s biology, psychology, environment, and well-being without imposing belief systems or expectations.
After stepping back from public-facing work in 2021, Dr. Elmore has returned—not to promote experiences, but to remind people that choice matters. It is your choice to understand safety protocols. It is your choice whether you attach a story to them.
Today, this work applies an anthropological and forensic lens to education, helping individuals, clinicians, and communities recalibrate language, expectations, and responsibility—so people can come together with clarity rather than confusion.
This is not about telling people what will happen.
It is about giving people the foundation to choose wisely—
for themselves and for one another.
